Trimming the Tree

Thanksgiving weekend we got our tree up and decorated for the holidays.

Dot was much more interested in the ornaments off the tree.

But she still managed to pose for a few pictures.

Douglas was quite helpful this year for the first time... until he started removing all the ornaments again.

Like last year, our tree is surrounded by a Superyard to help minimize Naughty Spot time for Douglas as he pulls off the ornaments and opens the gifts.  He is much better about it now, but the first few days had a number of casualties, even though 95% of the ornaments are plastic.

Settling down for bed in the glow of the tree.

How Daddy settles the kids down.

Apparently we started an unintentional tradition of taking pictures of the kid(s) decorating the tree, and I think we'll keep that up because... well, why not?  We don't have too many traditions so far, and this one is easy!  This was Dot's first year since we decorated just a few days before her birth last season.  Here's our collection from the previous two years:

I can't believe how BIG he is now!

I LOVE the tree guarded by the "superyard" great idea! I'll bet the little ones are loving the excited of Christmas. They are such sweethearts. Hug them both from Grandma & Grandpa

We surround our tree with a gate as well. We've had it for 7 years and I always just called it the "baby corral," but "superyard" sounds much more humane. Thanks for the new vocab.
